Sounders Women Shower Fans with 5 Goals

Friday night the Sounders Women played their last home match of the regular season in front of another great crowd at Starfire Sports. While the Olympic Team players Hope Solo, Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, and Sydney Leroux had the night off, that didn’t stop the Sounders Women from dominating the match.

Lyndsey Patterson knocked in two goals in the first half. Then in the second half, Veronica Perez scored her own brace along with one final goal by Megan Manthey to get the 5-0 win.

These matches were definitely a lot of fun to watch. It will be interesting to see what happens next in the world of women’s professional soccer in the US. Local writer Liviu Bird wrote an interesting piece on the subject for the New York Times soccer blog. And I supplied the photographs for the article.
