On Sunday, Sept. 23, the University of Washington hosted Seattle University. The two teams went into halftime scoreless, but less than 10 seconds into the second half Abdul Aman gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead. Thirty minutes later, UW defender and captain Dylan Tucker-Gangnes scored off a quickly taken free kick from about 35 yards out. The Huskies kept the clean sheet and recorded the 2-0 victory.
This was my first college match to shoot. It’s obviously a different level than MLS–plays are a bit slower to develop and everything seemed more disorganized. At least that’s what it looked like to me. I also recognize that one match is an awfully small sample size! But there are certainly some talented players on both teams. I look forward to shooting some more college matches.
