It’s a new league and a new team. Seattle Reign FC has had a tough beginning to their inaugural season in the new NWSL. Winless after three matches, a win in their first match at home would have been a nice way to greet their new fans. But FC Kansas City spoiled those plans by defeating the Reign 1-0.
You couldn’t have asked for a better night, though. The weather was perfect. Though not a sellout, it was a decent crowd. The number I was hearing in the press box after the match was somewhere just above 2600. That’s a far cry from what I’m sure they would like to be drawing (Starfire is capable of ~4500), but we’ll just have to wait and see if that number increases.
