The province of Emilia-Romagna — land of Prosciutto di Parma, Parmigiano-Reggiano, aged balsamico. And bicycles?
The town of Reggio Emilia is situated right between Parma and Modena. You won’t find any hilltowns in this part of Italy. In fact, there aren’t any hills at all. Because it’s so flat, people ride their bikes everywhere.
This row of bicycles was just off the main piazza in the center of town. It’s funny, I find my sensibilities around my own photos are definitely changing. It’s been more than 7 years since I took this. And while I still like it, I find myself asking “Where are all the people?”
At the time, I likely waited for a moment when no one was walking by so I could get a clear shot. Today, I might compose it similarly, but then I’d wait for someone interesting to walk into the frame to really bring this photo to life.
~Sigh~
Just another reason to plan a trip back to Italy.
