On Tuesday morning I made it out to my first Sounders training this year. The preseason began just over a week ago, and as I write this post the team is on its way to Casa Grande, Arizona for some warmer and drier conditions.
There was a new, yet familiar, face on the pitch this morning. After being traded for on Sunday, Federal Way native Lamar Neagle attended his first training in rave green after playing in Montreal last season. You may recall he was sent to the Impact (along with Mike Fucito) in the trade that brought Eddie Johnson to Seattle last year. He seemed very happy to be back home.
Much of today’s practice took place over on the grass fields away from where media is positioned. So I didn’t get too many action shots, although I managed a few.
Also of note, retiring Seattle Times sports columnist Steve Kelley was on hand to receive a gift from the team.
