LA Galaxy arrived in Seattle without two of their three international superstars – David Beckham and Robbie Keane. Landon Donovan could not lead his weakened side to a win or draw. So for the first time in MLS play, the Seattle Sounders beat LA at home with a final score of 2-0.
It was another fun match to shoot. I got lucky one more time this week. Shortly after moving from one side of the goal to the other, Eddie Johnson scored his first goal in Seattle right in front of me. You may recall, in the last match I had the same great timing with Zach Scott’s first ever MLS goal. But my luck ran out early in the second half.
I was little late getting down to the pitch after uploading some first half photos to Prost Amerika. In order to get to the North side of the field where I was planning on shooting, I had to walk through the back halls of CenturyLink. (They don’t let photographers walk along the sidelines to switch ends during the match.) And of course, while I’m in the bowels of the stadium I hear a huge eruption from the crowd. I made it onto the pitch just in time to see the replay of Fredy Montero’s amazing strike from distance.
Oh well. I knew my luck wouldn’t last forever. On to the photos…
Thanks for these great photos. So bummed that we missed the game (I suppose being in Croatia is a pretty good reason). Looks like our boys in rave green are on a tear! Let’s hope it doesn’t stop anytime soon.
Keep up the greta work!
Yeah, definitely a good excuse! I’m really looking forward to this weekend’s matchup against RSL. Always a good match and I’ll be in the stands for this one!
