EJ Scores Two as Sounders Beat Chivas, 2-1

On a beautiful sunny day in Seattle the Sounders managed to come from behind for the first time this season. Steve Zakuani started his second MLS match in a row, the first one at CenturyLink field since he broke his leg in April of last year.

After going down a goal after only eight minutes, Eddie Johnson evened the score for the Sounders 20 minutes later — tying the Sounders season record of 12 goals, held by Fredy Montero (2009 and 2011). Then in the 89th minute, with the match still tied, none other than Fredy Montero passed in a great cross that Eddie Johnson buried for the match winner, breaking Fredy’s season scoring record.

But with seven more matches still left in the regular season, and only two goals behind, I wouldn’t count Fredy out of the running just yet. This has definitely turned into a great competition between the two forwards.
