Dempsey Scores but Sounders Fall to Toronto 2-1

Clint Dempsey doubled his goals as a Sounder on Saturday. But it wasn’t enough as the Seattle Sounders fell to Michael Bradley, Jermain Defoe, and Julio Cesar of the new-look Toronto FC.

It didn’t take long for the England international and former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe to make his mark in MLS. In fact it took just 17 minutes. And then again only seven minutes later. But his former Spurs teammate, Clint Dempsey, added one himself in the 68th minute. But that was all the Sounders could muster.

It was definitely a chippy match which the referee nearly lost control of at times (or perhaps he never had it?). Frustration in the Seattle side was evident as the match progressed. And while that may make for some messy soccer, it also leads to some great expressions. And I love trying to capture emotion in the players’ faces.

Next week’s match is away to Montreal, so there will be a couple weeks before my next match gallery. Though I may try to shoot a Seattle Reign training session, if I can. So until then…
